Eric Stern
Eric, a 20+ year veteran of the violin and viola, is currently a teacher and clinician of string instruments. At the age of nine he decided it was time to start playing and guilted his mother into getting his first violin. In the sixth grade, his beginning orchestra teacher decided he needed to start at the beginning and it was off to the music store for his second instrument, the viola. After years of formal training in both instruments and a desire to share his experience with others, he knew it was time to become a teacher. Now, with more than a decade of teaching under his belt, he has helped students from ages 3-75 become successful musicians, both aspiring professionals and hobbyists. As a clinician Eric teaches relaxed playing techniques, overcoming performance anxiety, ensemble balance and performance training. Eric also has extensive experience working with students who have learning disabilities.
Eric's professional credits include Section Violin and Viola with the Ruby Mountain Symphony and Principal Second Violinist for the Reno Pops Orchestra. Currently Eric has the honor of sitting as the Concertmaster for the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra and as Principal Second Violin for the Carson City Symphony. As a community outreach musician Eric performs as the violist with the Ad Libitum String Quartet, which performs selections from almost 500 years of music, including baroque, classical, modern, and classic rock.
